Nami Surgical, a Glasgow-based University of Glasgow spin-out, has raised £3.4 million as part of a funding round extension led by £2 million from the Scottish National Investment Bank. Existing investors Eos Advisory, which led the company’s previous two rounds, Scottish Enterprise, and the Investment Fund for Scotland, managed by Maven Capital Partners and delivered by the British Business Bank, also participated.

The funds will go toward commercializing the company’s ultrasonic technology, expanding its engineering team with five new jobs at its Hillington headquarters, and pursuing partnerships with global healthcare companies.
Ultrasonic scalpels cut tissue and seal vessels at the same time using high-frequency vibration, but they have traditionally been too large and rigid for robotic systems. Nami’s approach miniaturizes the transducer, the component that generates the vibration, so the scalpel can bend and rotate within robotic platforms while keeping its cutting and sealing function. Founded in 2021 by Dr. Nico Fenu and Dr. Rebecca Cleary, the company has a patent-protected design.
Recent milestones include ISO 13485 certification, the appointment of Nikki Palfrey as CEO in January, and a Bio-tech Manufacturer of the Year award at the 2026 Made in Scotland Awards. Palfrey described the raise as marking “an important stage in Nami’s development.”
For the broader MedTech space, the round arrives as large players expand robotic surgery through investment and acquisition, increasing demand for instruments that work inside those platforms.
