MIT spinout Magnendo has raised $18M in a Series A round led by Penumbra to accelerate development of its magnetic robotic navigation platform for neuro-endovascular procedures.

The technology combines magnetically steerable guidewires, robotic control, advanced imaging and AI-powered navigation software to improve speed and precision during complex vascular interventions, including mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke.

The funding will support product development and preparation for first-in-human clinical studies. Magnendo aims to address current challenges in endovascular access by enabling faster and more consistent navigation across complex anatomies.

“Our mission is to redefine endovascular access through magnetic robotic navigation, enabling physicians to reach the treatment site faster, more reliably, and with greater consistency,” said Yoonho Kim, CEO of Magnendo.
