Vivid Dx raises $15M to advance rapid blood-based infection diagnostics

Vivid Dx has secured $15 million in seed financing to advance a diagnostic platform designed to identify infectious pathogens and antibiotic susceptibility directly from blood samples. The round was co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Cedars-Sinai Intellectual Property Co., with participation from strategic investors.

The company’s platform combines sample preparation, Raman spectroscopy, and AI to analyze individual pathogen cells, aiming to reduce infectious disease testing timelines from several days to just hours. By enabling faster identification of pathogens and resistance profiles, the technology could help clinicians move to targeted antibiotic treatments sooner, improving care for patients with serious bloodstream infections.

The funding will support clinical validation and further development toward regulatory and commercial adoption. Vivid Dx has also appointed diagnostics executive Keith O’Neill as CEO.

“For decades, clinicians treating serious infections have had to wait too long for the information needed to guide antibiotic treatment,” said O’Neill. “Our goal is to move those answers closer to the moment a blood sample is taken.”
