Vernacare International, the UK-based manufacturer of medical consumables backed by H.I.G. Capital, has acquired Bailey Instruments and ASep Healthcare. The deals are Vernacare’s fifth and sixth since H.I.G. invested in 2020, following Eakin Surgical earlier this year and the purchases of Frontier Medical’s Infection Prevention Business, Robinson Healthcare and Splice Cast. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bailey, founded in 1989, makes specialist podiatry instruments and clinical products and distributes in more than 30 countries. The acquisition adds to Vernacare’s existing podiatry range and gives Bailey’s products access to Vernacare’s commercial network in new customers and markets.
ASep, founded by clinicians, makes single-use and reusable tourniquets for blood collection, phlebotomy and venous access. Its products are designed to lower the risk of cross-contamination and support efficiency in clinical practice. They sit alongside Vernacare’s existing tourniquet portfolio and infection prevention range.
For Vernacare, the two deals widen its specialist clinical portfolio across acute hospital, community and specialist care. CEO Alex Hodges said both businesses have innovative products, respected brands and deep clinical expertise. H.I.G. Capital’s Adam Taylor said the deals show the company executing its growth plan.
For the broader MedTech space, the acquisitions are another example of a private equity-backed company growing through a string of small specialist purchases, a pattern in medical consumables.
