King brings more than 30 years of medical device industry experience, having previously served as President and CEO of Tegra Medical, a contract manufacturer and former RS2 Healthcare Partners portfolio company, and of Clinical Innovations, a women's health device maker. He has also held leadership roles at Baxter Healthcare, Cardinal Health, and Johnson & Johnson.
KMM specializes in complex, tight-tolerance components for medical devices and other demanding manufacturing sectors, formed from the combination of KV Inc., M&S Centerless Grinding, and Meron Medical.
For KMM, the investment and leadership transition position the company for further scaling while preserving its existing engineering and operational leadership, according to the company. For the broader MedTech space, the deal adds to continued private equity interest in the contract manufacturing segment of the sector, an area increasingly viewed as a scalable investment category as device makers rely more heavily on specialized, tight-tolerance outsourced manufacturing.
RS2 Healthcare Partners Co-Managing Partner Craig Stern called KMM "an exceptional company, with an excellent reputation in the marketplace."
