Harmony Medical, a Dublin-based medical device company, has been selected for the inaugural Octane-Mussallem Cardiovascular Accelerator in California, the only Irish company chosen among a cohort of six cardiovascular start-ups. The accelerator is backed by the Mussallem Foundation, established by Linda and Mike Mussallem, founding CEO of Edwards Lifesciences, and is led by Sandy Miller, co-founder of Stanford Biodesign.

Harmony Medical is developing a cardiac access stabilization platform for hybrid and structural heart procedures, intended to give clinicians a stable, controlled route to the beating heart. Its lead product, the Anchoring Sheath, is designed specifically for pediatric patients undergoing hybrid cardiac procedures, with the company stating the technology could help reduce the need for open-heart surgery, shorten recovery times, and ease the treatment burden on children and families. The device holds a US patent, has completed beating-heart proof-of-concept testing, and the company has received FDA feedback ahead of a planned De Novo submission.
For Harmony Medical, an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Startup client, the accelerator provides access to US pediatric cardiac centers, clinicians, industry experts, and investors as it works toward commercializing the Anchoring Sheath. For the broader MedTech space, the selection adds to continued attention on pediatric congenital heart device innovation, an area historically underserved relative to adult cardiovascular technology, and reflects Ireland's continued output of research-led health tech companies.
CEO and co-founder Brian Bailey said the company was founded so that "every child who can avoid open-heart surgery, or undergo fewer surgeries over the course of their life."
