About the company

We are working with an innovative and fast-growing medical technology company developing novel solutions for patients living with type 2 diabetes and obesity.

The business is preparing to expand the use of a pioneering endoscopically delivered device therapy, designed to bridge the gap between pharmaceutical treatment and surgery and provide an alternative option for patients who may not be suitable for existing approaches.

We are now looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help establish and grow the market across the UK.

About the role

This is a market development-focused position where you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, driving adoption of an innovative therapy and establishing the clinical, referral and NHS funding pathways required to bring the therapy into routine practice.

You will:

  • Identify and develop new NHS customers and clinical users.
  • Build strong relationships with key clinical stakeholders and KOLs.
  • Develop MDT and patient referral pathways.
  • Drive new therapy adoption through NHS funding, commissioning and procurement pathways.
  • Develop and articulate a credible strategy for overcoming NHS funding barriers and establishing sustainable routes to market.
  • Work with procurement teams, ICBs and other stakeholders to support funding and commissioning.
  • Support the onboarding and implementation of new customers.
  • Manage and develop relationships across your designated region.
  • Deliver product and clinical training to users and wider MDTs.
  • Identify new market opportunities and drive commercial growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams to support successful customer implementation and adoption.

About you

You will be a commercially driven medical device or healthcare professional with a strong track record of developing new markets and introducing innovative products or therapies.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience in business development and sales within healthcare or medical devices.
  • Experience launching new therapies, products or devices into the market.
  • An understanding of NHS funding, commissioning and procurement pathways, with the ability to develop a credible strategy for securing funding and driving adoption of a new therapy.
  • The ability to clearly articulate a practical plan for navigating NHS funding challenges and establishing a route to market, even if you have not personally led this process before.
  • Experience developing new customer accounts and markets from the ground up.
  • Experience working within bariatrics, gastroenterology, endoscopy, diabetology, endocrinology or hepatology.
  • Strong relationships with clinical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering training to clinicians and healthcare teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisation, time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced and evolving business.
