Australian medtech startup Oli has raised $6.5 million in Series A3 funding to accelerate development of its wearable technology designed to predict birth complications before they occur.

The round was backed by Scale Investors, Clare Ventures, and the University of Sydney, bringing Oli’s total private capital raised to $13 million, alongside more than $9.5 million in non-dilutive grants.

Oli’s core product is a wireless, wearable maternal-fetal monitoring device that collects continuous physiological data during labour. Its proprietary analytics platform converts this into real-time clinical signals intended to identify early warning signs of complications such as postpartum haemorrhage, fetal distress, and preeclampsia.

CEO Tara Croft said:

“There’s an immense amount of potential and opportunity in this space for early detection and early warning to quite genuinely transform maternal and fetal health around the globe.”

The funding will support completion of a 1,000-patient pivotal clinical trial across Australia and the U.S., with more than 850 participants already enrolled. It will also advance regulatory submissions with Australia’s TGA and the U.S. FDA, expand manufacturing, and prepare for a planned commercial launch in 2027.

Oli aims to position its platform as a clinical decision-support tool that enhances - not replaces - clinician judgment during labour, while improving early detection of high-risk events.
