Modular Medical partners with IMO Health on EHR insulin pump integration

Latest Medtech News

Modular Medical has entered a pilot collaboration with IMO Health to develop an electronic health record (EHR)-integrated tool that helps clinicians identify diabetes patients who may benefit from insulin pump therapy.

The partnership will create a terminology-powered phenotypic algorithm designed to identify patients using multiple daily injections (MDI) who may be suitable candidates for Modular Medical's recently launched Pivot tubeless insulin patch pump.

The algorithm will analyze clinical characteristics associated with pump hesitancy, prior pump discontinuation, and suboptimal MDI outcomes, enabling clinicians to identify eligible patients during routine care while reducing the need for manual chart reviews.

The pilot will initially be deployed at a large diabetes center before expanding to multiple sites. Modular Medical expects the tool to support earlier intervention, improve access to insulin pump therapy, and streamline clinical workflows.

Jeb Besser, CEO of Modular Medical, said:

"Commercial success isn't only about building a better insulin pump, it's about helping clinicians identify the patients who will benefit from it."

The collaboration supports the commercial rollout of the FDA-cleared Pivot insulin patch pump by combining digital clinical decision support with diabetes technology to improve patient identification and adoption.
