Cardiovascular & Structural Heart

Cardiovascular is one of MedTech's largest and most established sectors, spanning structural heart, electrophysiology, vascular intervention and cardiac monitoring. Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death globally, accounting for approximately 32% of all fatalities.

It is also one of the most competitive MedTech sectors. The top 5 strategics - Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, and Terumo - collectively held 45% of global market share in 2025. New entrants in pulsed-field ablation, leadless pacing, and AI-enabled diagnostics continue to challenge their dominance and reshape how cardiovascular care is delivered across clinical practice.

Cardiovascular is experiencing a transition from invasive surgery to minimally invasive procedures and a push towards value-based care. The number of single-specialty cardiology ASCs quadrupled from 55 to 221 between 2018 and 2023 and outpatient cardiac procedure volumes projected to grow 25% by 2035 - three times the rate of inpatient growth. Success requires a sophisticated approach to regulatory affairs, reimbursement strategy, and a robust clinical trial roadmap to prove long-term efficacy in a saturated global market. It also requires securing leadership that is able to nurture long-standing relationships with key opinion leaders and help disrupt legacy workflows.
