B. Braun Buys family-owned Lauer Membran Wassertechnik - Dialysis Water Treatment Supplier
German medical devices company B.Braun said on Thursday that its hemodialysis, acute dialysis and apheresis unit Avitum has acquired the family-owned Lauer Membran Wassertechnik GmbH. Lauer manufactures water treatment systems for application in dialysis.B.Braun operates about 300 dialysis centers around the globe treating approximately 24,000 patients, according to the website. Both companies have already collaborated for some time in the dialysis market. “This acquisition marks B. Braun’s response to increasing demands for dialysis products and services from a single source,” the Melsungen-based company stated in a press release. “Through this acquisition, B. Braun Avitum AG intends to strengthen its future market position as a system provider for dialysis therapy.”B.Braun said that the acquisition would bring no “significant changes” for the 75 employees of the Wittlingen, Germany, based company.
