China’s Neusoft Medical Gets FDA Clearance for NeuViz Prime CT Scanner

Neusoft Medical, a Chinese firm, won FDA clearance for and is releasing its NeuViz Prime 128-slice CT scanner. The device sports spectral imaging, which uses different energy levels to image the body and attain in many cases sharper, easier to read results.

Fast rotation of the gantry (0.259s) and a 25ms temporal resolution help to alleviate common motion artifacts that occur due to moving organs, such as the lungs and heart, and when working with pediatric patients that refuse to stay still.

The company is also touting a new X-ray tube that features quick heat dissipation, no warm up or cool down time, and 60 kV imaging that is particularly suited for pediatric scans.

Some of the other features of the NeuViz Prime, according to the produc page:

  • Ultra-HD imaging: Micro focus spot, Quad-Sampling technology work with iHD (isotropic High Definition) and 1024 matrix, the spatial resolution can reach 30 lp/cm
  • Dual energy innovation: Spectral imaging adds tissue characterization to morphology, improves the value of radiological department
  • Low dose design: Unique 60kV scanning provides clinical breakthroughs on low dose scanning. It’s significantly beneficial to pediatrics. ClearView iterative reconstruction Algorithm can reduce dose for patients of all ages
  • eCare mobile interconnection solution: Remote images browse and diagnostic by mobile devices, easy and quick patient image access special for emergency case
